Ben Stokes has a big chance in the Boxing Day Test, he will enter this list only after scoring 70 runs.

AUS vs ENG Boxing Day Test: The fourth match of the Ashes 2025-26 will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26, which is known as the Boxing Day Test. So far this tour has been very disappointing for England. The team’s batting order could not live up to the expectations, due to which it had to face continuous difficulties. In such a situation, England will try to perform respectably in the series by winning the remaining two Test matches.

Batting became England’s biggest weakness

In the first three matches of the series, England’s batsmen were seen struggling completely against the Australian bowlers. From the top order to the middle order, no player was able to score runs consistently. The effect of this is clearly visible on the results of the team. Now England will be eyeing a strong batting performance in the Boxing Day Test, so that they can play successfully in the match.

Ben Stokes has a chance to make a special record

This series has not been special with the bat so far for England’s Test captain Ben Stokes. In three Test matches, he has scored only 165 runs at an average of 37.50, which includes two half-centuries. However, Stokes will have a chance to make a big personal record in the Boxing Day Test.

If Stokes scores 70 runs in this match, he will leave behind former England captain Andrew Strauss. Strauss had scored 11315 runs in 231 matches in international cricket and he is at 10th place in the list of highest run scorers for England. Whereas Stokes is at number 11 with 11245 runs. As soon as he scores 70 runs, Stokes will make his place in the top-10.

England made two major changes in the playing 11

England has already announced its playing 11 for the Boxing Day Test against Australia. Two important changes have been seen in the team. Fast bowler Joffra Archer, who has been one of the most effective bowlers for England so far in this series, has been ruled out of the remaining two Test matches. Apart from this, Jacob Bethel has been included in the final eleven in place of batsman Ollie Pope.
