Karnataka bus accident : Karnataka : A horrific accident has taken place near Gorlathu village in Chitradurga district of Karnataka. A private bus was hit by a truck on National Highway 48 today (25th) Thursday morning. After the travel bus accident, more than 10 people died as the bus caught fire.

A private sleeper coach bus was going from Gokarna to Shivamoga. The bus caught fire after the impact, killing several passengers, 10 people are believed to have died so far. According to preliminary investigation, the tanker truck crossed the divider and hit the bus, causing the bus to catch fire.

The truck hit the divider and overturned

Karnataka Police has informed about this accident. The police said that the accident happened due to the negligence of the driver of the container truck going from Hiriyur to Bengaluru. The truck went over the divider and hit the bus. The incident took place in Hiriyur rural police station area. Karnataka Police IGP Dr. B.R. Ravikante Gowda said that the tanker truck driver also died in this accident. There were a total of 32 people in the bus including the driver and conductor. A few suffered minor injuries, but one injured was taken to Bangalore’s Victoria Hospital with 20 per cent burns.

IGP Gowda further said that a school bus also hit the burning bus. Fortunately, the 48 students on the bus were not injured. The school bus driver is an eye witness to the incident and his statement is being recorded. A police investigation is underway and the cause of the accident is being ascertained.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep condolences over the tragic accident. He has condoled with the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the families of those killed in the accident and Rs 50,000 to the injured from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
