Big action by Lokayukta in Karnataka, treasure worth crores found in the house of someone close to the minister – ..
News India Live, Digital Desk: Taking action against corruption, Karnataka Lokayukta Police has recently conducted raids at several places linked to Sardar Sarfaraz Khan, Private Secretary to Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan. In this raid, Lokayukta has found many shocking evidences of disproportionate assets, the value of which is said to be around Rs 14 crore. This big action has created a stir in the government corridors.
According to the information, Lokayukta officials simultaneously raided about ten places in districts like Bengaluru, Madikeri and Mysuru. These included Sarfaraz Khan’s house, some other houses, his coffee estate and a resort in Mysuru district.
In this long raid, the team has found cash, gold jewelery and expensive luxury cars. Initial investigation has revealed that this wealth is much more than the known sources of income of Sarfaraz Khan. It is reported that the jewelery alone was worth Rs 3 crore, and many valuable documents have also been found which are still under investigation.
Actually, this case started when the Lokayukta received a complaint against Sarfaraz Khan for amassing disproportionate assets. Let us tell you that the roots of this case are also linked to the IMA Ponzi scam. Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had raided the premises related to Zameer Ahmed Khan in 2021. Later the matter went to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and when the ACB ended, the investigation came into the hands of the Lokayukta.
When Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan was questioned on this development, he said that this is a normal investigation. Earlier, the Lokayukta had sent a notice to the minister himself in a case of disproportionate assets and he was also interrogated.
This action of Lokayukta makes it clear that the war against corruption is going on in Karnataka and the officials are constantly keeping an eye on such matters. Recently, the Lokayukta had raided not only these but also the residences of some other government officials of the state, in which a total of benami property worth about Rs 19 crore was detected.
