Varanasi25 December. ‘Player of the Match’ Purushottam Chaturvedi’s lethal bowling (5-9) paved the way for a one-sided victory for Hriday Prakash XI, who defeated Lalji XI by 10 wickets with 16.3 overs remaining in the Group B match of the 38th Kanishkadev Gorawala Memorial Media Cricket Competition here on Thursday.
Lalji XI disintegrated for just 44 runs
On the second day of the first phase of the competition organized under the Anand Chandola Sports Festival under the banner of Varanasi Press Club run by the Kashi Journalist Association, on the second day of the competition organized in the first phase at Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Complex, Lalji XI, forced to bat first, collapsed for just 44 runs in 13.4 overs in front of captain Purushottam and his fellow bowlers.
Amitdway ensured easy victory with unwavering participation
In front of a weak target, Hriday Prakash XI achieved an easy victory by scoring 47 runs without loss in just 3.4 overs. Openers Amit Mishra I (27 runs not out, 13 balls, five fours) and Amit Mishra II (10 runs not out, 10 balls, one four) ensured the team’s victory with their unbroken partnership.
Before this, only Ajit Singh (11 runs, 16 balls, one four) from Lalji XI could see double figures. Apart from Purushottam, Irfan, Sonu and Shankar Chaturvedi shared three wickets among themselves. RP Gupta and Hemant umpired while Nand Kishore Yadav acted as scorer.
Chief guest of the second day of the competition, Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal and local editor of Dainik Hindustan Rajneesh Tripathi got introduced to the players of both the teams. On Friday, the second match of Group B will be played between Lalji XI and Garde XI from 10.30 am.
