America’s big attack on ISIS in Nigeria, Trump said – ‘Rather fire on the killers of Christians’

of America President Donald Trump has claimed that the US military has conducted several “lethal” and “precise” air strikes against ISIS terrorists in Nigeria. According to Trump, these terrorists were especially targeting Christians and killing them mercilessly. He said that these attacks were carried out on ISIS targets in north-western Nigeria on his direct orders.

Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that this action reflects America’s strict and clear stance against terrorism. He alleged that violence in the region had reached levels “not seen not just in years, but even in centuries.”

‘Attack on my orders as Commander-in-Chief’

Trump said in his post that “Tonight, at my direction as Commander-in-Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against the terrorist predators of ISIS in northwestern Nigeria.” He claimed that many ISIS positions were completely destroyed in these attacks.

‘Terrorists were targeting and killing Christians brutally’

According to the US President, these terrorists were “mainly targeting innocent Christians and killing them brutally.” Trump said that the violence of terrorists had reached a very dangerous level, after which military action became mandatory.

Had warned earlier, now claims of raining ‘hell’

Trump wrote in his statement that he had already warned the terrorists. “I had already warned these terrorists that if they did not stop the killing of Christians, there would be a heavy price to pay—and that is what happened tonight.” Using the Pentagon’s informal term, Trump said that “the Department of War has carried out a number of precision strikes, as only the United States of America can do.” He also gave a Christmas message praising the American Army. “God bless our army, and Merry Christmas to all.”

Terrorist violence has continued in Nigeria for years

Nigeria has been facing severe terrorist violence for a long time. The activities of groups associated with ISIS and terrorist organizations like Boko Haram have been continuously coming to light in the northern and north-eastern parts of the country. Recently the US has declared Nigeria a “country of special concern” under the International Religious Freedom Act. In November, Trump said he had instructed the Pentagon to plan for possible military action following allegations of persecution of Christians.

Visa ban on people involved in violence against Christians

In the past few weeks, the US State Department has announced a visa ban on Nigerian citizens and their families who are accused of being involved in mass killings and violent incidents against Christians.

Nigeria’s President said – will protect religious freedom

Amidst this entire incident, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu reiterated his resolve to protect religious freedom in a statement and letter released on social media on Christmas Day. “As President, I am committed to doing all I can to strengthen religious freedom in Nigeria and protecting people of every faith from violence,” he said. Tinubu also said that since assuming office in 2023, he has been continuously assuring the country about its security, unity and stability.

Government denies allegations of organized persecution of Christians

However, the Nigerian government has vehemently rejected allegations of “organized persecution” of Christians. The government says that armed terrorist groups target both Muslims and Christians and it is not correct to present this complex security crisis as solely religious violence. Nigeria’s population is divided almost equally—the north is predominantly Muslim and the south is predominantly Christian.
