Monsoon Update – Heavy rain warning for 35 hours across 7 states, winds to lash
Monsoon Update – Only a few days are left in December. The first month of the new year, January, will soon begin, but even before that, the changing weather patterns have brought worry to people’s faces. Cold, fog, and rain are causing problems for many.
Heavy snowfall in the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir has completely halted life. The cold wave will continue in the Plains states as well. There is no relief from the biting cold in sight. The threat of rain persists in several South Indian states, including Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in the next 40 hours.
Severe Cold in These States
According to the Meteorological Department, a Western Disturbance is likely to develop, which could keep several states under cloudy skies. Cloudy conditions and snowfall are expected in the higher reaches of Ladakh, Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh. The IMD has also predicted that cold wave conditions will prevail in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand may also experience a cold wave.
Delhi Weather
According to the Meteorological Department, the capital, Delhi, i is currently battling pollution. The next few hours are expected to be quite cold. Winds of 10 to 1kilometresrs per hour are also expected in the next 10 days. The minimum temperature in the capital could be recorded at 6.5 degrees Celsius, which is considered one degree below normal. The maximum temperature is expected to be 22 degrees Celsius.
Heavy Rainfall Expected in These States
The IMD has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in several South Indian states. An alert for heavy rain has been issued for Tamil Nadu and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. According to the Meteorological Department, light rain and dense fog are expected in many parts of Tamil Nadu until December 28th.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected in coastal areas, northern Tamil Nadu, Chennai, Puducherry, and Karaikal for the next three days. In addition, frost warnings have been issued for the hilly regions of Nilgiri and Kodaikanal. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are expected to experience heavy rainfall starting from December 29th.
