IITs can also open their campuses in Bhutan, Morocco and Sri Lanka
After Tanzania and UAE, many other countries of the world have also shown interest in opening IIT Global Campus. These include Bhutan, Morocco and Sri Lanka are the most prominent. These countries have sent a proposal in this regard to the Central Government.
Although no final decision has been taken yet, but brainstorming has started at the government level regarding (IIT Global Campus). It is believed that IIT Global Campus can be finalized soon after discussing with IITs interested in opening their campuses abroad.
At present, IIT Madras in Zanzibar, Tanzania and IIT Delhi in Abu Dhabi, UAE have established their foreign campuses, which are being seen as (IIT Global Campus). It has also been agreed to open a campus of IIT in West Africa, where it will be hosted by the Federal Government Academy, Suleja.
According to sources related to the Education Ministry, proposals have recently been received from Bhutan and Morocco regarding (IIT Global Campus), while the proposal from Sri Lanka is already pending. It is noteworthy that IIT campuses have been opened in Zanzibar, Tanzania in the year 2023 and in Abu Dhabi, UAE in 2024.
