At the closing ceremony of Sansad Khel Mahotsav, PM Narendra Modi gave advice to the players and made a special appeal to the parents of the children.

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted virtually with the players today on the concluding occasion of ‘Sansad Khel Mahotsav’. Modi said, today I want to tell every player of the country. You are not playing just to win. You are playing for the country, you are playing for the honor of the tricolor. I also request every parent to motivate their children to play, give them opportunities to play, because play is not only a part of learning. Playing is an essential condition for a healthy body and also a healthy mind.

The Prime Minister said, today the opportunities in sports are unlimited. Today, such an ecosystem has been created in the country where players are selected not on the basis of reach, not on the basis of introduction, not on the basis of identity, but on the basis of talent. Before 2014, all the irregularities that used to happen in the name of sports in the sports department, team selection and sports infrastructure have stopped today. Today, even a child from the poorest of the poor families can reach the pinnacle at an early age.

Narendra Modi said, now we have to make it our target to top the table through global sports events. India is going to host big sporting events in the coming times. In 2030, India will organize the Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad. Then the eyes of the whole world will be on India. This will be a big opportunity for young players like you. Not only this, India is also trying to host the biggest sports event i.e. Olympics in 2036. India in 2036 will be represented by those youth who are 10 or 12 years old today. We have to find them from now on, hone them and bring them on the national stage. Sansad Sports Festival can play a big role in this.

PM said, today MP Sports Mahotsav has become a mass movement. Planning of this program by more than 290 MPs across the country, connecting lakhs of youth and getting more than 1 crore young players registered in it, every corner of the country has a stake in it. There is participation from youth from every background, from cities to villages. This shows how big its scale is. Being the MP of Kashi, I remained very closely associated with this sports event in my parliamentary constituency. I feel happy to see that the youth have created new records through the platform of Sansad Khel Mahotsav. This year too, this huge event that lasted for several weeks has served as a strong platform for the youth. Many disabled players have also got a chance to progress in this. I congratulate all the players and the youth of the country for this.
