CNN-News18 has quoted sources as saying that this announcement of TTP has come at a time when the Pakistani Army is already badly entangled in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. This announcement by Taliban also points towards the group’s expansionist plans beyond the north-west of Pakistan.

TTP’s new announcement

TTP has said in its official statement that the fight against Pakistan’s army and security establishments has now entered a new phase. The organization has indicated that it is moving towards adopting capabilities like drones, remote technology and air strikes.

TTP is already a problem on the ground

TTP has already become a call for Pakistan at the grassroots level. There are continuous attacks on the army in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. There is a situation of parallel rule in the tribal areas due to suicide attacks on police posts and military convoys. Amidst all this, now the announcement of air challenge increases the danger for Pakistan manifold.

meaning of aerial challenge

The air warning from TTP simply means that it is preparing for a drone attack. Its purpose is to target high altitude and sensitive military bases of the Pakistani army. That means TTP is working on a strategy to cause more harm with limited resources. This is the same model which the Afghan Taliban and terrorist organizations of West Asia have tried before.

Increased concern of Pakistani Army and ISI

This announcement of TTP is like a red alert for Pakistani Army and intelligence agency ISI. Now the challenge is not only to find the terrorists, but also to stop the threat coming from the sky, for which Pakistan neither has sufficient technology nor resources.

Questions raised again on Afghanistan connection

The courage of TTP also indicates that it is getting support from the soil of Afghanistan. However, the Taliban government of Afghanistan has denied this. This is the reason why there is a possibility of further deepening of the already existing tension in Pakistan-Afghanistan relations.

Pakistan stuck on two fronts!

On one hand there is separatist movement in Balochistan, on the other hand there is terror of TTP. Now due to the addition of land and air threats, Pakistan’s security system has come under complete pressure. Experts believe that Pakistan may have to pay a heavy price in the coming times.

PAK’s allegation rejected

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to as ‘Fitna-al-Khawarij’ by the Pakistani state, is a banned group. Pakistan has accused TTP of operating from Afghan territory, which the Taliban government has rejected. It remains one of the most serious internal security threats to Pakistan.

major changes

TTP has announced the creation of two new zones to manage the shadow provinces, namely Western Zone (Balochistan) and Central Zone. Both the zones have their own overall military commanders. New provinces have been added to the shadow province under TTP administrative control, including Kashmir Province and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Under this policy, changes have been made in the leadership of all the military zones of TTP. Notably, Fakir Ipi’s great-grandson Ehsanullah Ipi has been appointed the chief of the Southern Military Zone. Fakin EP joined TTP in March 2022. In the new military zone, Hilal Gaj is the deputy chief of the Central Military Zone.

Salim Haqqani is given the responsibility of Air Force.

Apart from this, Azmat Ullah Mehsud has taken over as the leader of the Political Commission in place of Maulvi Faqir Muhammad. Maulvi Fakir will remain a member of the commission. A. TTP has announced the formation of its own air force under the leadership of Salim Haqqani. New provinces have been added under the administrative control of TTP, which include Kashmir Province and Gilgit-Baltistan.
