Railway Ticket Price Increase : New Delhi : Railways are used for a large amount of travel in India. Railways are the preferred option for long distance journeys. by rail (Indian Railways) This news is important for everyone who travels. Henceforth there has been a change in the railway ticket price. Ministry of Railways has issued a notification in this regard. This increase has been announced by the Ministry of Railways five days ago. Due to this, the common man’s pocket has been pinched.
From today i.e. from December 26, the fare has been hiked by 1 paise per km in normal class and 2 paise per km in mail/express for journeys of more than 215 km. This decision was announced 5 days ago and now it has been implemented. This change will be applicable for tickets booked on or after December 26. Tickets already booked will not be affected. This is the second hike this year, the previous hike was in July. This has also made train travel expensive.

Railways have made this fare hike for long distance travel. Keeping in mind the daily wage earners and professionals traveling short distances, the Railways has not increased the fares for journeys up to 215 km in the general category. Railways has said that there is no burden on the pockets of those traveling up to 215 km in normal class trains. However, for journeys of more than 215 km, the fare of ordinary class tickets has been increased by one paise per kilometre.

What did the Ministry of Railways say?
The existing basic fares of major railway services Tejas Rajdhani, Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duranto, Vande Bharat, Humsafar, Amrut Bharat, Tejas, Mahamana, Gatimaan, Antyodaya, Garib Rath, Jan Shatabdi, Yuva Express, Namo Bharat Rapid Rail and general non-suburban services (except AC, MEMU, DEMU if applicable) have been revised as per approved class wise basic fares. Railways has clearly stated that all these special services of Indian Railways are also going to be for this increased fare. The revised rates will be applicable to all these trains. However, this increased fee will not be applicable to those who book railway tickets before 26th December. Additional charges are applicable for bookings made after this.
