A 14-year-old Indian batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi has received a special honor. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was awarded the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award on Friday. President Droupadi Murmu presented him with the award.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently in phenomenal form. On Wednesday, he scored a century in just 36 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and went on to play a magnificent innings of 190 runs off 84 balls, including 15 sixes and 16 fours. He has already scored three centuries in T20 matches this year. He is also the youngest batsman to score a century in both the IPL and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Why is this honor given?
The National Children’s Award is a prestigious civilian honor in India, given to children for their exceptional achievements. The award, presented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, is given to children between the ages of five and 18.
Vaibhav’s sensational performance in 2025
This year, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made headlines by scoring a century in just 35 balls while playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Besides this, 2025 was an exceptional year for him, and he set several records. He showcased his talent in domestic cricket as well as in international cricket at the Under-19 level. Given his performance, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is being considered the next superstar of Indian cricket.
What does the award include?
Children who receive the National Children’s Award are given a medal, a certificate, and a commendation letter from the President. In addition, the winners receive a cash prize of one lakh rupees. These children also get the opportunity to participate in the Republic Day parade.
