New Delhi: Communal tensions escalated late Thursday night in Chomu town near Jaipur, leading to an uncontrollable situation. A dispute arose over the removal of stones from outside a mosque near the bus stand. Within moments, a crowd gathered to protest the administrative action and began pelting stones.

Several police officers were injured in the stone-throwing by the rioters. Internet services have been suspended in the area due to the deteriorating situation. The area has been turned into a virtual fortress to control the situation. Security personnel are deployed everywhere, and every person entering or leaving the area is being monitored. The stones outside the mosque were being removed after mutual agreement. When the administration officials arrived to remove the stones, everything was initially calm. However, after a short while, people suddenly started protesting.

To disperse the large crowd of rioters, the police resorted to a lathi charge (baton charge) and fired tear gas shells.

For some time, the bus stand area became the scene of the conflict. Police from several stations have been deployed to control the situation. DCP West Hanuman Meena stated that around 2 AM, some rioters attacked the police, injuring several officers. However, additional forces were called in, and the situation was quickly brought under control.
