Indian player creates a new record in List A cricket, equals the world record

Vijay Hazare Trophy: The match between Hyderabad and Vidarbha in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 was played on 26 December in Rajkot. Vidarbha won this match by 89 runs. For Vidarbha, 33 year old batsman Dhruv Shourie batted brilliantly and played an inning of 109 runs. With this he equaled a world record. He has equaled the record of Indian player M Jagadeesan.

Initially this record was in the name of N Jagadeesan, who had scored 5 consecutive centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in the year 2022-23. Now Dhruv Shourie has equaled this record. He has also scored a total of 5 consecutive centuries in Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Dhruv Shorey scored centuries in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the year 2024-25. After this, he has now scored centuries in the first 2 matches of the 2025-26 season and has equaled the world record of N Jagadeesan.

India’s Karun Nair and Devdutt Padikkal, Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and South Africa’s Alviro Pietersen had scored 4 consecutive centuries in List A cricket, but out of these, Kumar Sangakkara is the only one who had scored consecutive centuries in international cricket.
