New Delhi. Gig workers have announced a strike across the country on 31 December. This will affect the delivery of Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Flipkart, Amazon, Zepto and other e-commerce companies.

Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union and Indian Federation of App-Based Transport Workers said that these workers are protesting against deteriorating working conditions, decreasing earnings, lack of security, lack of social security. Workers have appealed to the Center and states to regulate these platform companies. The statement issued by the Gig Workers also mentions the strike on 25th December. Its effect could not be known.

Fair and transparent salary structure should be implemented.

There should be a ban on ID blocks and penalties without due process.
Necessary gear and measures should be provided for safety.
There should be no discrimination on the basis of algorithms, everyone should get equal work.
Platforms and customers should be treated respectfully.

There should be no breaks during work and no work should be done beyond the stipulated time.
The app and technical support should be strong, especially for payment and routing issues.
