MCU fans adore Thor’s Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer
The second Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer puts Chris Hemsworth’s Thor front and center. The trailer shows the hammer-wielding hero with short hair, calling back to his appearance in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War.
The teaser establishes a serious and mellow tone, underscoring the immense threat posed by Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom and Thor’s fear and worry when it comes to handling him. It shows Thor praying to his late father, Odin, and the other All-Fathers, to not only give him the strength to fight Doom but also to survive the battle against the latter and return home to Love, whom Thor adopts in Thor: Love and Thunder after defeating her father, Gorr the God Butcher.
Thor’s teaser received a myriad of positive reactions, with one even sharing their preference for it over Steve Rogers’ trailer. YouTuber Eren, aka Caboose, wrote“Not gonna lie, that Thor teaser for Avengers Doomsday is extremely effective at building up the threat that is Doctor Doom.” He added, “Seeing Thor praying to the All-Father that he can make it out alive in the upcoming battle is some powerful storytelling.”
Another user opined that the trailer was “miles above” Steve Rogers’ trailer, adding that Thor’s trailer should have been released first. Caboose agreed with the user but stressed that the first trailer’s purpose was to confirm Steve Rogers’ appearance in Avengers: Doomsday, which he noted was “a huge surprise for most general audience members.”
Yet another user praised the return of Thor’s Infinity War hairstyle and the gold accents on Thor’s armor. They wrote“I love that his infinity war look is back and the gold accents are a welcome addition.” Another user remarked“Thor’s back and there’s love? My popcorn just upgraded itself.”
Avengers: Doomsday premieres on December 18, 2026.
