India worried about the ongoing atrocities on Hindus, Foreign Ministry said – Yunus government should bring the culprits to the dock

New Delhi, 26 December. India has taken a very strict stance on the incidents of killings, arson and harassment against the Hindu community in Bangladesh. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) during the weekly press briefing on Friday clearly said that the interim government of Bangladesh cannot shy away from these incidents. The ministry said that concrete and prompt action is necessary in the cases of killing of Hindu youth, burning of family houses and continuous targeting of minorities.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the interim government of Bangladesh should bring the culprits to justice. He said that so far during the tenure of Yunus government, about 2900 incidents related to violence, arson and torture against minorities have come to light. This figure in itself reflects the deteriorating law and order situation there and the insecurity of the minorities.

The present government is responsible for the bad situation

India also said that New Delhi has been continuously rejecting the misconceptions and narratives being spread against India in Bangladesh. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the current government is responsible for the violence and poor law and order situation in Bangladesh. India is alert about the safety of minorities and is keeping a close eye on the situation.

Minorities are being targeted

Randhir Jaiswal said that the security of Hindu, Christian, Buddhist and Sikh communities in Bangladesh is in a very worrying situation. Minorities are being continuously targeted by extremist elements, which cannot be ignored under any circumstances. Referring to the recent murder of a Hindu youth, he strongly condemned the incident and expressed hope that the culprits would soon be brought to justice.

H-1B Said this regarding visa

During the press briefing, the Ministry of External Affairs also expressed concern on another important issue. India has expressed its views to the US administration regarding the sudden cancellation or postponement of H-1B visa interviews of a large number of Indian applicants in the US. Visa interviews for thousands of Indian applicants have been postponed for several months since the middle of this month due to scrutiny of their social media posts and online profiles, the ministry said.

Both countries are in constant touch on this issue

Randhir Jaiswal said that the Indian government has received complaints from many citizens who are facing difficulties in rescheduling their visa appointments. He acknowledged that visa policy is a sovereign matter of any country, but India has clearly expressed its concerns to the US side both in New Delhi and Washington DC. Both the countries are in constant touch on this issue.
