US forces bomb ISIS hideouts in Nigeria

US President Donald Trump said that the United States has conducted an air strike against ISIL (ISIS) terrorists in north-west Nigeria. The special thing is that Trump had chosen Christmas day to give this information.

Trump said in a post on his ‘Truth Social’ platform, “Last night, at my direction as Commander-in-Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly attack against ISIS terrorists in northwest Nigeria.”

He said that ISIS terrorists mainly targeted innocent Christians and killed them with brutality, the likes of which had not been seen in years and centuries. Trump added, “I had previously warned these terrorists that if they did not stop the massacre of Christians, they would have to face consequences, and that is what happened tonight.”

US military Africa Command (AFRICOM) said on social media platform ‘X’ that the airstrike was carried out at the request of Nigerian authorities and that ‘several terrorists’ were killed.

US Defense Secretary Pete Heckseth wrote, “I am grateful for the support and cooperation of the Nigerian government.” He warned that much still remains to be done. AFRICOM said that this attack took place in Sokoto state of Nigeria.
