Short stature-ordinary look, nothing like a hero! How Salman Khan became Bollywood’s biggest mass star

On a cold December morning, on 27 December 1965, Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan was born in Indore, whom the world calls ‘Bhaijaan’ or ‘Sallu’, who became the Messiah of some and Dabang Khan of others. His behind-the-scenes story has always been interesting, starting from the 1980s, when Salman, son of famous writer Salim Khan, entered the film industry. Her debut was in 1988 with the film ‘Biwi Ho To Aisi’, where she played a small supporting role. But the real breakthrough came in 1989 with ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, where he entered the hearts of the audience as Prem. This film became the biggest hit of that era, and Salman became a star overnight.

After that, films like ‘Saajan’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’, ‘Karan Arjun’ made him a romantic hero. But in the 2000s, he jumped into the world of action and blockbusters like ‘Radhe Bhaiya’, ‘Dabangg’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Sultan’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ made him the ‘Tiger’ of Bollywood. Today he is not only an actor but also famous for producer, TV host (‘Bigg Boss’) and charity. His films take the box office by storm, and he helps millions through the ‘Being Human’ foundation.

Sooraj Barjatya did not like Salman

Although I did not like Salman Sooraj Barjatya at all for ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ released in 1989. He had rejected Salman as soon as he saw him because he never liked Salman’s acting which he did in ‘Biwi Ho To Aisi’. When Sooraj met Salman for the first time, his impression was that Salman ‘does not look like a hero, he is short and ordinary’. Salman also came to refuse to do the film, because Rajshri’s heroes often played ‘saint-like’ roles. But Sooraj started the narration, and by the time they reached the interval point, Salman became so excited that they both finalized the film with a handshake. While it was Salman’s lead debut, it was Sooraj Barjatya’s directorial debut and proved to be a superhit.

how many times does the heart beat

Now let’s talk about his love life, which has always been in the headlines. Salman is Bollywood’s most eligible bachelor, but his heart has failed many times. His first love was Shaheen Jaffrey, which was the initial love story of his life. Then came Sangeeta Bijlani, with whom he came close to marriage, but things did not work out. In the 1990s, his relationship with Somi Ali, who came to Bollywood from Hollywood, was in the news. His love story with Aishwarya Rai made the most headlines. This love, which started with the shooting of ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, was stormy, but the breakup shook both of them. After that there was a long relationship with Katrina Kaif, which changed from friendship to love, but did not reach marriage. Apart from these, there were many rumors, like with Lulia Vantur, but Salman is still single and says that marriage is not in his destiny! Her love life is as dramatic as the movies, love, breakups, and always a mysterious smile!’

bhaijaan’s net worth

Now, talking about his earnings, by the year 2025, Salman Khan’s net worth is around Rs 2900 crore. This has come not only from films, but also from endorsements, production, TV shows and investments. He charges Rs 100-150 crore for every film, and also earns crores from ‘Bigg Boss’. His luxury life includes Galaxy Apartment in Mumbai, Farmhouse in Panvel, expensive cars and bikes. But he is also a philanthropist and invests crores in education and health through Being Human. This story of Salman shows that he is not just a star but a phenomenon.

How many days were you in jail?

Salman Khan’s stardom has been a black chapter – his Black Bug Case and Hit and Run Case. Which not only broke Salman but also changed his life completely. Salman had gone to jail several times, but the main reason was the blackbuck poaching case of 1998. This case lasted for more than 20 years and he was in jail several times (in total for around 18-20 days on different occasions).

1998: Initial arrest, jail for a few days

2006: 1-5 years’ imprisonment in a separate case of Chinkara (another protected animal) hunting, spent a few days in jail

2007: A few more days after the punishment is confirmed

2018: The biggest opportunity: On April 5, Jodhpur Court sentenced 5 years of jail and a fine of Rs 10,000 in the Blackbuck case. Salman was sent directly from the court to Jodhpur Central Jail. He stayed there for 2 nights, then got bail on 7th April and came out. Salman Khan’s hit and run case is a famous case of 2002, in which he was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and running his car over people sleeping on the footpath. On the night of 28 September 2002, Salman’s Toyota Land Cruiser climbed onto the footpath outside the American Express Bakery in Bandra, Mumbai. Due to this, 1 person (Nurullah Sharif) died and 4 people were injured. Initially, a charge of culpable homicide (culpable homicide) was imposed, which is punishable with a punishment of up to 10 years. Convicted by the Sessions Court in 2015 and sentenced to 5 years in prison. Salman remained in jail for some days, but came out on bail. December 2015: Bombay High Court acquitted him of all charges. Reason: Lack of evidence (Prosecution could not prove that Salman was driving and was drunk). The Maharashtra government appealed to the Supreme Court, but the case did not proceed further and the acquittal decision was upheld.
