Indian women’s team defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets
Thiruvananthapuram: The third match of the 5-match T20 series being played between India and Sri Lanka women’s team was played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, in which Team India’s winning campaign was seen continuing in this match also. Indian women’s team has won the third T20 match by 8 wickets and has taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series. In this match, Sri Lanka women’s team came to bat first, in which it managed to score only 112 runs in 20 overs. After this, Team India achieved this target in 13.2 overs at the loss of only 2 wickets.
Shafali Verma’s explosive style with the bat
On behalf of Team India, so far in this T20 series, opening batsman Shafali Verma has seen excellent form with the bat, which continued in the third match as well. Chasing the target of 113 runs, the Indian women’s team’s opening pair of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana could only manage to make a partnership of 27 runs for the first wicket. Smriti Mandhana returned to the pavilion after scoring just one run. After this, Jemimah Rodrigues, who came to bat, supported Shafali very well, in which a partnership of 40 runs was seen between the two for the second wicket. Jemima was out after scoring 9 runs. From here Shafali got the support of captain Harmanpreet Kaur and together they made a partnership of 48 runs for the third wicket and returned the team to victory. In this match, Shafali’s explosive style was seen with the bat, in which she played an unbeaten inning of 79 runs with the help of 11 fours and three sixes in just 42 balls, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten inning of 21 runs was seen with the bat.
Shafali Verma left Mithali Raj behind
In the third T20 match against Sri Lanka, Shafali Verma managed to achieve another big feat with the bat, in which she has now overtaken Team India’s veteran player and former captain Mithali Raj in terms of scoring the most runs for the Indian women’s team in T20 International, in which she is now ranked fourth in the list. Shafali Verma has so far scored 2378 runs in 93 T20 International matches.
