28th December Foundation of Indian National Movement and Consciousness of Patriotism
Mumbai . The day of 28th December marks two events in Indian history. It is extremely important to understand the direction of the national movement in 1885 and the consciousness of patriotism in 1896.
The first session of the Indian National Congress in Bombay in 1885 laid the foundation of organized political struggle in India. The presence of 72 delegates shows that the educated Indian class had now come together on one platform to express its views against the colonial rule. Congress initially raised the problems of Indians through constitutional and peaceful means, but later this organization became the biggest force in the freedom movement.
The singing of “Vande Mataram” for the first time in the Kolkata session of 1896 became a symbol of emotional and cultural consciousness in the Indian national movement. This song was not just a composition, but became a mantra of patriotism, sacrifice and devotion to the motherland. It connected the people emotionally and played an important role in turning the freedom struggle into a mass movement.
