‘White disaster’ wreaks havoc from Delhi to Bihar! Dense fog and cold wave will increase the trouble
New Delhi: The entire North India is in the grip of severe cold these days. Dense fog in the morning and night has become the biggest challenge for traffic. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is no possibility of relief from cold till December 29, while the effect of dense to very dense fog will continue in many states till December 30. Road, rail and air services may be affected due to extremely low visibility.
IMD has issued a cold day alert in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Uttarakhand and Sikkim. Due to lack of sunlight throughout the day and cold winds, severe cold will be felt in these areas. Due to the activation of Western Disturbance, there will be a change in the weather again and the fog may become denser.
Condition of Delhi-NCR
People got some relief due to sunshine in the capital Delhi for the last two days, but the westerly winds have increased the melting. The minimum temperature in Delhi-NCR was recorded at around 6.5 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department says that the temperature may fall further after December 27. Due to the effect of western disturbance, there is a possibility of a thick layer of fog, due to which visibility will be very low in the morning and late night.
Orange alert in Bihar
Amidst the cold wave in Bihar, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for many districts. The minimum temperature has reached below 10 degrees Celsius in many parts of the state. A warning of dense to very dense fog has been issued in East and West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal and Jehanabad.
According to IMD Patna, there is a need to be extra cautious especially in the morning because low visibility can increase the risk of accidents.
Cold prevails in Punjab-Haryana also
The effect of cold continued in Punjab and Haryana also on Friday. Although the temperature remained slightly above normal in many areas, the melting made people miserable. Narnaul in Haryana was recorded as the coldest place in both the states at 5.5 degrees Celsius.
