Sensation in Amethi, UP: Elder brother murdered by burning alive, FIR registered against younger brothers and nephews

Amethi . A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh. The younger brother has been seriously accused of killing his own elder brother by burning him alive over a land dispute. This sensational incident took place late on Wednesday night in Sunderpur Darkha village of Amethi Kotwali area. The seriously burnt person died during treatment on Thursday. On Friday, on the complaint of the family, the police registered the case and started necessary legal proceedings.

According to the information, village resident Ramsjeevan Gupta (42), son of Rajaram Gupta, was sleeping in his thatched house built about 100 meters away from the house on Wednesday night. Suddenly his shed caught fire at around 9.30 pm. Seeing the rising flames, the villagers reached the spot and after much effort brought the fire under control, but by then Ramsjeevan was seriously burnt. The family members immediately took him to the District Hospital Gauriganj, where after first aid, seeing his condition as serious, the doctors referred him to the Trauma Center in Lucknow. He died on Thursday during treatment there.

The deceased’s sister-in-law, Phoolpati Devi’s wife Kalika Prasad Gupta, has filed a complaint in Amethi police station, alleging that due to a land dispute, Ramsjeevan’s real brother Jagannath Gupta and his sons Sachin and Satish set fire to the thatch in a planned manner. When the fire broke out, Ramsjeevan came out screaming to save his life. When she reached the spot after hearing the noise, she saw the accused running away. Ramsjeevan’s wife had died six months ago. He lived with his four-year-old son, although the child escaped safely as he was at his maternal uncle’s house at the time of the incident.

In this regard, Kotwali in-charge Inspector Ravi Kumar Singh said on Friday that on the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered against the three named accused under relevant sections. One accused is being detained and interrogated, investigation is ongoing.
