All three teams of Lucknow started with victory, Sports Director Dr. RP Singh inaugurating the state level junior boys hockey competition.

Lucknow, Amrit Thoughts: To commemorate the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, all three teams of Lucknow performed brilliantly and won their respective matches on the first day of the state level junior boys hockey competition which started from Friday under the joint supervision of Sports Directorate Uttar Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh Hockey Association.

Sports Hostel Lucknow, Lucknow Sports College and Lucknow Mandal team registered strong wins and entered the next round. Mohd. located in Vijayant Khand of Gomti Nagar. In the matches played at Shahid Hockey Stadium, Sports Hostel Lucknow defeated Agra Mandal 6-0, Lucknow Sports College defeated Meerut Hostel 7-0 and Lucknow Mandal defeated Devipatan Mandal 5-0.

Earlier, the competition was inaugurated by Sports Director Dr. RP Singh. Rajneesh Mishra of Uttar Pradesh Hockey Association and Olympic bronze medalist Lalit Upadhyay were also present on this occasion. The match played between Sports Hostel Lucknow vs Agra Mandal was completely one-sided. In the very first minute of the first quarter, Shahrukh gave the team the lead by scoring a brilliant goal. The hostel team scored a total of four goals in the first quarter. No goals were scored in the second and third quarters, while in the fourth quarter Hostel scored two more goals to ensure victory.

Shahrukh (1 min), Prahlad (4 min), Ajay (15 min), Raghavendra (9 and 59 min) and Atif (49 min) scored goals for the hostel. The first quarter of the match between Lucknow Mandal vs Devipatan Mandal remained goalless. Lucknow Mandal scored one goal in the second quarter, two goals in the third and two goals in the last quarter to register an easy victory. Saksham (25 and 35 minutes), captain Raunak (40 minutes), Ansh (49 minutes) and Dishant (52 minutes) scored goals for Lucknow. In other matches, Sports Hostel Varanasi defeated Aligarh 2-0. Basti defeated Azamgarh 4-0.

Kanpur Division defeated Azamgarh 4-0. While Sports Hostel Jhansi defeated Ayodhya Mandal 6-1, the match between Kanpur Mandal and Bareilly ended in a 1-1 draw. The match between Varanasi Division and Prayagraj Division also ended in a 1-1 draw.
