Desk: A painful accident took place late on Friday night near Ambika Bhavani Colony, Bharat Milap Chowk under Bhagwan Bazar police station area in Chapra city of Bihar. The poisonous smoke emanating from the fireplace lit inside the house to escape the cold has taken the lives of four people of the same family, while the condition of three others remains critical. The dead included an elderly woman and three innocent children, causing chaos in the entire area.

According to the information received, the family members had slept after lighting the fireplace inside the room due to extreme cold at night. Due to the spread of smoke from the fireplace in the closed room, carbon monoxide gas accumulated due to which everyone became unconscious. Late on Friday night, four people of the same family, who slept after lighting a bonfire in the house to protect themselves from the cold, died of suffocation. The condition of three other members of the family is said to be critical. No one had any clue about the incident till late night. When other family members opened the door in the morning, some people were found unconscious, while four were dead.

In this accident, 70-year-old Kamalavati Devi, three-year-old Tejansh, seven-month-old Adhya and nine-month-old Gudiya died of suffocation. The death of innocent children has brought great sorrow to the family. As soon as information about the incident was received, nearby people gathered at the spot and immediately informed the police and ambulance.

It is said that some members of the family had come from Banaras for treatment. In the accident, the condition of Anjali, Ameesha, Amit Kumar and Sanjay Sharma’s wife deteriorated, who were immediately admitted to Chhapra Sadar Hospital. According to hospital sources, the condition of three people remains critical and the team of doctors is treating them under constant monitoring.
