England Rewrite History in Australia
The England Cricket Team has rewritten history by winning the Boxing Day Test of the Ashes 2025-26 after a hiatus period of nearly 15 years.
For the first time in 19 games, England tasted victory in Australia as MCG readied for the second two-day finish of the Ashes series.
On a tough surface, England chased the target of 175 and secured a 4-wicket win. However, this win could not make a difference in the WTC 2025-27 points table and the series result.
Still, the visitors are being dominated with 4-1 lead in the series win one game remaining. It was only fifth time in the Test history that a series has included mutliple two-day finishes, and before this summer, they had two in history of Australia.
Jacob Bethell made a significant contribution scoring 40, but his dimissal made this test first in Australia to be played without a half century since 1932.
Jacob Bethell top-scores with 40 as we complete our first Test win in Australia since 2011.

Australia had a first innings lead of 42 by the end of day 01 which brought a 20-wicket day in test as Stokes and Brydon Carse shared seven wickets while Josh Tonuge had two wickets.
Still a small target, Australia comfortably dominated the game, until Zak Crawley showed intent and Ben Duckett show class as they scored 51 runs in seven overs.
Despite a brilliance from Mitchell Starc, Jhye Richardson and Scott Boland. England nailed it with a stunning 4 wicket victory in the Melbourne Test.
Josh Tongue was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking on the post match presentation, Tongue said, ” It’s what dreams are made of. Obviously waking up on boxing day, a few nerves. But yeah, to get a fifer and get my name on the honours board, it’s a very special feeling. It was with 95,000 people yesterday. The Barmy Army have been unbelievable these past four games.”
The final test of the series will be played between January 04 and 08 at SCG, Moore Park.
