Police raid on CPN Maoist’s ‘commune’, explosive material recovered
Kathmandu. Explosive material has been recovered from the ‘commune’ of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) led by Netravikram Chand ‘Viplav’ in Arghakhanchi district. During patrolling under the leadership of District Police Chief DSP Divas Bahadur Jisi in Shitganga Municipality-11, Bokse area of Arghakhanchi at around 10 pm on Friday night, several explosive materials including gun and grenade were recovered from a cattle shed.
The recovered arms and explosives included two guns, 14 grenades, 12 detonators, a pipe resembling a launcher, a five-litre pressure cooker bomb, a steel bomb, four bundles of electrical wires and 50 kg of gunpowder. According to police, the explosive materials were defused with the help of Nepali Army in the early hours of Saturday.
At the same time, CPN Maoist spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Vishwakarma ‘Prakand’ has termed this action taken on the commune as ‘state terror’. He claimed that terror has been spread by raiding the party-run commune and houses of common citizens located in Shitganga Municipality-11 of Arghakhanchi.
In a release issued by the party, he said, “On the one hand, the government is promoting the creation of an environment for peaceful elections, while on the other hand, it is conducting raids on Maoist production centers and homes of the common people. This makes it clear that the state does not want a peaceful solution, but wants to push the country towards unrest.” He has also appealed to human rights organizations for an impartial investigation into this incident.
