Mahbub Ali Zaki Died After Collapsing in BPL Match: A tragic incident took place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium during a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match, when Dhaka Capitals assistant coach Mahboob Ali Zaki passed away suddenly. The incident happened when his team was about to take the field for its first match against Rajshahi Warriors. Zaki suddenly collapsed just minutes before the match.

According to the information, Zaki’s sudden ill health caused panic among the staff and medical team. He was immediately given CPR and taken to Al Haramain Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. BCB Chief Physician Debashish Chaudhary confirmed the tragic incident.

Dhaka Capitals made an emotional post

Everyone present on and around the field was shocked by the sudden fainting of Mehboob Ali Zaki. Dhaka Capitals officials said that Zaki had not made any complaint about his health condition shortly before the incident. After this incident, players of other teams involved in BPL also reached the hospital, which included players of Sylhet Titans, Noakhali Express and Chattogram Royals.

Dhaka Capitals shared an emotional post on their Instagram page and wrote, ‘We are sad to inform that the beloved assistant coach of the Dhaka Capitals family has left us after suffering from heart disease. We are deeply saddened by this loss and pray to God that his soul rest in peace. Our deepest condolences to his family.”

Wave of mourning in Bangladesh cricket

Mehboob Ali Zaki’s cricket career was also very brilliant. He was a former fast bowler and had represented Comilla district in the National Cricket Championship. Apart from this, he also proved his mettle in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. After his retirement from cricket, he changed his direction to coaching and worked for the development of fast bowling in BCB since 2008. Mehboob Ali Zaki’s demise is a big loss for Bangladesh cricket. His sudden demise at the age of 59 is a matter of deep mourning for the cricket community.
