Russia Captures Kupyansk City: The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday that the joint forces of Russia’s 6th Guards and Western Military Group have taken full control of the key city of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region. According to the ministry, Russian troops are continuing to expel Ukrainian forces remaining in the city. Russia reported that Ukrainian forces tried to infiltrate Kupyansk three times in the last 24 hours, but were foiled each time.

Russia’s claim to Kupyansk is significant because the city is a major hub of rail and road routes, vital for supply lines essential to the war. Russia first claimed control of the city in November 2025, but Ukrainian forces later regained control of most of the city after a major counterattack. In December, Russia claimed that much of Kupyansk had fallen out of its control.

Zelensky will meet with Trump tomorrow

An important meeting is going to be held between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky on Sunday to end the war. There can be talks between the two leaders on implementing the 20-point peace agreement proposed by America. However, Trump has already stated that the final decision on ending the war will be his and not Zelensky’s.

The 1427th and 1486th motor-rifle regiments are filming in Kupyansk, where they are currently encircled, according to UA sources.

The Ukrainian military confirmed active fighting in Kupyansk, but declined to comment in detail. According to some reports, Russia’s claim may be propaganda, while conflict continues on the ground. Independent analysts and some Russian military bloggers say Ukrainian forces had recaptured several areas and cut off Russia’s supply lines.
