Lucknow, 27 December. In view of the severe cold wave and dense fog in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made extensive and well-planned arrangements to provide relief to the common people.
‘No needy person should suffer from cold during the cold wave’
In this sequence, the system of distribution of night shelters, bonfires and blankets has been fully activated in all the districts so that no citizen is inconvenienced due to cold. The state government has given clear instructions that no needy person should suffer from cold during the cold wave. District administration, municipal bodies and concerned departments have been instructed to conduct relief operations with full sensitivity.
Uttar Pradesh government spokesperson said through a press release that till now 1247 night shelters have been established across the state. So far, 9949 needy people have taken shelter in these night shelters. Instructions have been given to the district administration to ensure proper arrangements for cleanliness, hot water, lighting and security in night shelters.
Priority for distribution of blankets among the needy
Blanket distribution has been given priority by the state government. An average of 10,65,889 blankets have been purchased in the last 03 years. An average amount of about Rs 44.38 crore has been spent on this. Under the ongoing system, an amount of Rs 17.55 crore has been released to all the districts.
75 in the districts 3,78,884 supply of blankets is complete
Purchase orders for purchasing blankets have been issued by 75 districts. Out of these, supply of 3,78,884 blankets has been completed in 75 districts. Till now, 1,40,364 blankets have been distributed by all the districts to the needy. The remaining blankets are being distributed.
Extensive arrangements have also been made for lighting bonfires in public places to protect from cold. An amount of Rs 1.75 crore has been allocated to all the districts for lighting bonfires. Regular feeding of the status of bonfires being lit daily in the districts is being done on the relief portal, so that continuous monitoring can be maintained at the government level.
Widespread use of technology to prevent accidents
Technology is also being used extensively by the government to prevent accidents caused by fog. So far, 33.27 crore alert SMS have been issued by the Relief Commissioner’s Office through Sachet app and web portal.
These messages have been sent to the officials of the affected districts as well as to the general public. Apart from this, fog related alerts are being continuously issued by the concerned departments like UPEDA, NHAI and PWD to the District Magistrates and District Police through e-mail.
