Big relief to students from post matric scholarship, historic announcement of Rs 4.77 crore

Punjab Education: The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is continuously taking historic steps to connect the deprived and backward sections of the state with the mainstream of society and make them self-reliant through education. This was said by Dr. Baljeet Kaur, Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Affairs.

Students should not be deprived of education

Giving information in this regard, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that under the ongoing Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste students, an amount of Rs 4.77 crore has been released so far, so that no student is deprived of his studies only due to financial constraints.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

He said that 2 lakh 62 thousand 373 students have applied under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme across the state, which is proof that the educational welfare schemes of the government are reaching the students effectively.

Sensitivity and visionary thinking

Dr. Baljeet Kaur further said that a budgetary provision of Rs 245 crore has been made for this scheme during the financial year 2025-26, which shows the seriousness, sensitivity and visionary thinking of the government towards education. The Cabinet Minister also shared information that during the last financial year, 2 lakh 37 thousand 456 students were provided financial assistance under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme.

Students should not leave their studies midway

Dr. Baljeet Kaur stressed that for Mann Sarkar, education is not just a government scheme but a strong foundation of social justice. He clarified that the government has a strong commitment that no student coming from a poor or deprived background should leave his studies midway merely due to financial reasons.

He said that through the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, the State Government is giving strong support to the dreams of those students who want to change the future of their families and society by making education their strength. The government stands firmly with every child who aspires to move ahead and make his or her identity through education.
