India becomes the world’s second largest mobile manufacturing hub, six times increase in production
India Second Largest Mobile Hub: India has created a new history in the global manufacturing sector as the country has now become the second largest mobile manufacturing hub in the world. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed that India’s electronics production has registered a growth of more than six times in the last decade.
Due to the government’s visionary policies and PLI scheme, not only production has increased but exports have also increased by a huge eight times. This achievement is ‘Make in India’ This proves the success of the campaign on the global stage, which is giving a new impetus to India’s economy.
Record breaking growth in electronics production and exports
Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that schemes like Production Linked Incentive (PLI) of the Central Government have changed the picture of the country’s electronics sector. If we look at the data of the last 11 years, India’s electronics exports have increased eight times and now it has become the third largest export category of the country.
This scheme, brought in for large-scale manufacturing, has so far attracted an investment of Rs 13,475 crore. This has resulted in a generation of Rs 9.8 lakh crore in the electronics sector which shows the growing strength of the Indian market.
Unprecedented increase in employment opportunities
The electronics manufacturing sector is not only generating revenue but has also become a major center of employment generation. According to Ashwini Vaishnav, this sector has generated a total of 25 lakh jobs in the last decade, out of which more than 1.3 lakh jobs have been created in the last five years.
From the applications received under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme, it is expected that 1.42 lakh new jobs will be created in the coming time. Along with the expansion of manufacturing units, youth at the grassroots level are getting economic opportunities on a large scale which are realizing the dream of self-reliant India.

Steps towards becoming a semiconductor hub
India is no longer limited to just finished products but is also moving rapidly towards manufacturing components and chips. The government has approved 10 new units for the semiconductor sector, out of which three units have also started pilot production.
Soon chips made in India will be supplied to companies making mobiles and other gadgets. An investment proposal of Rs 1.15 lakh crore has been received in the Component Manufacturing Scheme, which shows the confidence of the industry. India is now increasing its capacity in manufacturing from raw materials to machines.
