These days, a lot of turmoil is being seen in the neighboring countries of India. Countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh are sitting on their laurels. In such a situation, an important meeting of the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) can be held on 26 December to further strengthen the security of the country. This meeting will be presided over by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. In the meeting, big arms deals under Emergency Procurement (EP) for the three armies will be discussed.

In the meeting, important decisions are also likely to be taken on the purchase of weapons under Emergency Procurement (EP) for the three armies. Especially the purchase of missiles will be the main agenda of this meeting. Apart from Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence, CDS, Army, Navy and Air Force chiefs, Defense Secretary and DRDO chief will be present in this meeting.

Missiles will remain in focus:

Navy’s big demand for MR-SAM missiles: Indian Navy has demanded more than 700 MR-SAM (Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile).

  • This missile was developed in partnership with DRDO and Israel.
  • Manufactured by Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL)
  • Range about 70 kilometers
  • Capable of shooting down enemy aircraft, missiles, drones and helicopters.
  • Deployed on big warships of the Navy for the last 10 years

Air Force will get strength from Astra Mark-2 Indian Air Force is planning to buy more than 600 Astra Mark-2 air-to-air missiles.

Range around 200 kilometers

Enemy aircraft can be targeted from within India’s territory only.
After Operation Sindoor, the need for long range missiles became more clear.

Army needs new radar

Indian Army needs low-level and lightweight radar
3D Aslesha and 2D Bharani radar developed by BEL, demand for more than two dozen new radars already in service
These will be part of the Akashir Command and Reporting System
