NEW DELHI: A fan at Newlands lived a once in a lifetime moment during the MI Cape Town versus Durban Super Giants clash in SA20, pulling off a stunning one handed catch in the crowd and walking away with a life changing prize.

The moment came during the second innings as Ryan Rickelton went on a six hitting spree while chasing a stiff target. Rickelton launched the ball deep into the stands, and a fan reacted instinctively to grab it clean with one hand.

The catch was part of an SA20 fan contest, where spectators are rewarded for taking clean catches off sixes. The effort earned the fan Rand 2 million, which is approximately INR 1.07 crore, turning an ordinary evening into an unforgettable one.

Rickelton’s innings were packed with power and timing. He smashed 11 sixes and five fours, keeping MI Cape Town in the hunt despite regular wickets falling at the other end.

Durban Super Giants edged past MI Cape Town by 15 runs after posting 232 for 5. Conway and Williamson laid the foundation before a late surge. Rickelton’s explosive 113 kept MICT alive, but disciplined bowling at the death sealed a thrilling opening win for DSG.
