Bangladesh Premier League coach dies after falling ill before match

New Delhi 28 December 2025: Bangladesh Premier League in morning A sudden tragedy occurred on Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Dhaka Capitals had a match today, but before the match something happened which spread a wave of shock in the cricket world. The team’s assistant coach died. The team was to play its first match against Rajshahi Warriors, but before that there was mourning due to the death of the coach.

The team’s assistant coach, Mehboob Ali Zaki, suffered a heart attack and died on the field. Before the match started, Zaki fell ill. After that he fell on the ground. Medical personnel treated him and administered CPR. He was then taken to the hospital in an ambulance, where he later died.

After being taken to the hospital, doctors examined him and admitted him to the ICU, where he died after some time. The franchise issued a statement saying, “Dhaka Capitals assistant coach Mehboob Ali Zaki fell ill during practice and collapsed on the field. He was immediately given CPR and admitted to the hospital.

After being shifted to the ICU, he died at 12:30 pm Bangladesh time and 1 pm Indian time.

Both teams remained silent

Upon receiving the news of Zaki’s death, Dhaka Capitals and Rajshahi Warriors observed silence during the innings break of the match to pay tribute to Zaki. There was a rain of condolences from the cricket world. Former Bangladesh captain and experienced player Shakib Al Hasan remembered Zaki. He wrote, “I have known Zaki since my early days as a professional cricketer. His last moments were spent on the cricket field, doing what he always loved. My condolences to his family.”
