Team India: BCCI has announced the Indian team for next year’s Under-19 World Cup. Next year, the Under-19 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia. Ayush Mhatre will command the Indian team and Vihaan Malhotra has been made the vice-captain. India is the most successful team of this tournament, having won the title 5 times so far (2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, 2022).
Captaincy of Ayush Mhatre
BCCI has expressed confidence in Ayush Mhatre and made him the captain. However, Ayush and vice-captain Vihaan Malhotra are currently suffering from wrist injuries. For this reason, he will not be a part of the South Africa tour to be held just before the World Cup. It is expected that he will be fully fit and join the team before the start of the World Cup.
Eyes will be on Vaibhav Suryavanshi
The most talked about name in the team is 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi. There are a lot of expectations from Vaibhav in the World Cup after becoming the youngest player in the recent IPL auction and scoring a lot of runs in domestic cricket. Vaibhav has also been made the captain of the team for the ODI series against South Africa before the World Cup.
