Australia released 2 players after defeat in Boxing Day Test, know the reason

Australia Release 2 Players From Ashes Squad: The fifth match of the five-match Ashes series being played between Australia and England will be played from January 4, 2026. This match will be played in Sydney. Before this match, Australia has released two players. Australia has released Josh Inglis and View Webster.

According to reports, Josh Inglis and View Webster have been released from the squad for the Big Bash League. The Sydney Test will start after a week. Because of this, Inglis and Webster have been released from the Australian team to participate in the BBL. Webster will be available for Hobart Hurricanes in their BBL match against Melbourne Renegades on Monday. Josh Inglis will play for Perth Scorchers against Sydney Thunder on Tuesday.

Both players will join the team for the fifth test

Defending champions Hobart are currently second in the Big Bash League standings with three wins from four matches, while the Scorchers are coming off the back of consecutive defeats and are placed fifth. Cricket Australia said both players would return to the Australian squad after their BBL matches to prepare for the Ashes Test in Sydney. After playing seven Tests this year, Webster was left out of Australia’s playing eleven for the first Ashes match in Perth. After this he has not been able to return to the team, but due to the continuous failure of Cameron Green during this series, he may be given a chance in the playing eleven of the fifth Test. Inglis is unlikely to be recalled after scoring 32 runs in his three innings during the Brisbane and Adelaide Tests. Australia has taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series.

Released due to end of fourth match in 2 days

Along with the Ashes, the Big Bash League (BBL) is also being played in Australia. The fourth Test of the Ashes series played in Melbourne ended in 2 days. Australia had to face defeat by 4 wickets in the Melbourne Test. The fifth and last Test of the Ashes series will be played in Sydney from January 4.
