Dhaka. The two main suspects in the murder of ‘Inquilab Manch’ leader Sharif Usman Hadi have absconded from Bangladesh and are suspected to be in India at present. A senior officer of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) gave this information. Masked gunmen shot Hadi in the head on December 12 in the Vijayanagar area of central Dhaka while he was campaigning. He later died during treatment in Singapore.

DMP (Dhaka Metropolitan Police) Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations) S. N. “Suspects Faisal Karim Masood and Alamgir Shaikh have crossed into Meghalaya, India, with the help of local associates,” Mohammed Nazar-ul Islam told a press conference.

“As per our information, both the suspects entered India through Haluaghat border. After crossing the border, they first met a man named Purti. After this, a taxi driver named Sami took them to Tura town in Meghalaya,” The Daily Star quoted Islam as saying in its news.

However, the DMP official did not clarify when the two suspects fled from Bangladesh and entered India. There has been no reaction yet from the Indian authorities on this matter.
