Consuming 3 drinks can cause liver damage

Harvard gastroenterologist Dr. Saurabh Sethi shared a video on his Instagram. In this he told that if fatty liver patients do not stop consuming these 3 drinks, then they may soon suffer from serious and fatal diseases like liver damage and liver cirrhosis.

soft/cold drinks

Soda or cold drinks are the favorites of most people. People drink it to get relief from the heat, to quench thirst, to refresh themselves or while eating. Regarding this, Dr. Saurabh Sethi says that it contains very high amount of sugar and fructose, which the liver cannot digest easily. Due to this, it directly turns into fat and starts getting accumulated in the liver. Gradually, swelling in the liver increases and it starts deteriorating.

energy drinks

The doctor further told that the energy drinks available in the market contain a lot of fructose and artificial sugar. Our liver is the only organ that can process fructose. When we drink too much sugar, the liver starts converting that extra sugar into fat. This fat starts accumulating around the liver cells, which can trigger non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

bubble tea

Regarding bubble tea also, Dr. Saurabh Sethi warned that too much syrup and condensed milk is added to it. Only the liver can process the fructose present in it. When you drink so much sugar, the liver cannot handle it and immediately turns it into fat. This can quickly lead to the problem of non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFLD).
