Constitution and democracy are in danger… Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s sharp attack on Modi government on Congress Foundation Day.

Shiv Shankar Savita- On the occasion of the 140th foundation day of Congress, the party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge strongly attacked the Modi government at the Centre. During the flag hoisting ceremony organized at Indira Bhawan in Delhi, Kharge said that today the Constitution and democracy are in serious danger in the country. He alleged that the present government is working to weaken the constitutional institutions and the rights of the people. Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and many senior party leaders were present in the flag hoisting programme. Recalling the 140 years of history of Congress and its contribution in the freedom movement, Kharge said that Congress has always been the voice of the poor, farmers, laborers and deprived sections of the country.

Our government made laws that strengthened the rights of common citizens

In his address, Kharge said that during Sonia Gandhi’s tenure as Congress President and Dr. Manmohan Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister, many historic laws were made in the country, which strengthened the rights of common citizens. Referring to the Right to Information (RTI), Right to Education (RTE), Food Security Act, MNREGA, Forest Rights Act and Land Acquisition Act, he said that these laws strengthened the roots of democracy. Kharge alleged that in the last 11 years, the Modi government has worked to weaken the institutions built by the Congress. He said that today water, forests and land are in danger and people’s rights are being snatched away. He also alleged that the BJP government has almost abolished public welfare schemes like MNREGA and laws are being made in the interest of capitalists.

Congress has always been in favor of inclusive development, social justice and democratic values.

The Congress President said that the Indian National Congress has always struggled for inclusive development, social justice and democratic values. He said that under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, Congress fought for freedom by taking all sections along. Many countries got independence, but India is the only country in the world where democracy is still alive, and the thinking and struggle of Congress has been behind it. Kharge said that crores of Congress workers struggled for 62 years, went to jail and sacrificed for the country, only then India got independence. Paying tribute to the founders of Congress and the freedom fighters, he said that the party will continue to work to build the India that they had dreamed of.

RSS did not accept the Constitution, Tricolor and Vande Mataram for a long time.

Attacking BJP and RSS, he said that these organizations did not accept the Constitution, Tricolor and ‘Vande Mataram’ for a long time. Kharge alleged that today the government is misleading the country through fake data and policies are being made for the benefit of select industrialists instead of public interest.
