- Learn easy tips
It often happens that we try to kick the bike or start it by pressing the self-start button. Sometimes the bike does not start at all. This situation is common in winter. Fortunately, this is not always due to a major technical failure. In most cases, this problem is caused by some minor and common mistakes that you can identify and fix yourself.

Engine cut-off (kill) switch
There is a red engine cut-off switch on the right handlebar of the bike. People often use this switch to turn off the bike and then forget to turn it back on. In such a case, your bike will not start even though it is brand new. Always check the kill switch before starting the bike. Make sure it is on. It’s a small thing, but it’s what gets people down.
Loose spark plug wire
The spark plug is a very important part of the engine. It is what creates the spark in the engine. If the spark plug wire is loose or fouled, the proper signal does not reach the engine and the bike does not start. At this point pull out the spark plug. Wipe thoroughly with a clean cloth and reseat the wire firmly. Then try starting the bike. Many times this small solution solves a big problem.
Not working on self start
In the winter the battery weakens quickly, especially if the bike has not been started for a few days. If you press self start and the bike doesn’t respond, it’s a clear sign that the battery is dead. Place the bike on the main stand. Shift the gear into fourth gear. Turn the rear wheel rapidly by hand. In this way the bike can be started. This is commonly called ‘push start’.

Run out of petrol
Often we don’t even realize that the bike has run out of petrol. Without petrol, the engine cannot run, making it impossible to start the bike. Don’t rely entirely on the fuel gauge. If the bike does not start suddenly, check the petrol in the tank. Many times the problem is not as big as we think.
Improper position of clutch and gear
If the bike is in gear and the clutch lever is not fully depressed, the bike does not start. Sometimes the clutch does not disengage properly and there is difficulty in starting. So put the bike in neutral gear. Press the clutch lever fully and then try to start the bike. If you make this habit, many problems related to starting will be automatically removed.
