  • Delhi leads in UPI transactions
  • Citizens of Bihar and Tripura lag behind
  • Regional disparity in UPI adoption is evident

UPI Transactions 2025: The rapid adoption of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in India has taken digital payments to new heights, but the adoption has been uneven across the country. According to a report, when adjusting the November data by population among larger states, Maharashtra was almost seven times ahead of Bihar in per capita UPI transactions. Similarly, Telangana is six times ahead of Tripura. This disparity underscores the country’s persistent digital divide. That is, in some places the use of new technologies is limited and in some places it is widely used.

And Chandigarh is doing 22.5 monthly transactions per capita. Among larger states, Maharashtra leads with 17.4 transactions per capita.
