Big confession of Pakistani President Zardari: Was advised to hide in the bunker during ‘Operation Sindoor’
Lahore. Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has revealed that he was advised to “hide in a bunker” during India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ in May this year. Zardari made this disclosure at an event in Larkana, Sindh province, on the occasion of the 18th death anniversary of his wife and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in Rawalpindi on 27 December 2007.
He said, “My MS (Military Secretary) came to me and said, ‘Sir, the war has started. I had told him four days in advance that the war was going to happen. He said, ‘Sir, we should go to a bunker… I said, ‘If martyrdom is to come, it will come here. Leaders do not die in bunkers. They die on the battlefield. They do not die sitting in bunkers.'” India had launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, which was aimed at targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The action was taken in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack, in which 26 civilians were killed. This attack was followed by fierce clashes between the two countries for four days, which ended with an agreement to stop military action on 10 May. Zardari said, “Pakistan wants peace, but is fully prepared to defend itself.” President Zardari praised Army Chief General Asim Munir and said it was an “appropriate reply” given to India.
Zardari also claimed that the international community was now accepting Pakistan’s stand and even US President Donald Trump had praised Munir. He also claimed that PPP (Pakistan People’s Party) made Munir a Field Marshal. “We, the PPP, made General Munir a field marshal,” he said. Zardari’s son and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also spoke on the occasion.
Retaliation for Pahalgam attack
This entire action was taken in retaliation to the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam in May 2025, in which 26 innocent Indian citizens lost their lives. India has given a clear message through ‘Operation Sindoor’ that New Delhi is now working on a policy of ‘Zero Tolerance’ against terrorist attacks and it is capable of entering the enemy stronghold across the border and attacking.
