New Delhi. The tradition of Award Ceremony has been going on in Bollywood for the last many years. Whichever actor is awarded the ‘Best Actor’ award, it is believed that his value increases significantly in the industry. Due to this, many people have also started buying awards. Anil Kapoor bought the Best Actor Award?
Recently, Manoj Desai, a well-known Bollywood producer and owner of Mumbai’s famous theater Getty Galaxy, has made many claims related to the industry. He says that once Amitabh Bachchan got an offer to buy an award, which the actor refused. But then that award went to Anil Kapoor. He claims that Anil Kapoor had bought that award.
Manoj Desai said on Vicky Lalwani’s YouTube channel, ‘Once I and Amitabh Bachchan were sitting together. The awards function was going on at that time. Then Rauf Ahmed, who was a film writer at that time, came to me and said that if I give the Best Actor award to Amitabh Bachchan, will you bear the expenses of this entire party? I went to Amitabh Bachchan and asked him the same thing. He said that Amitabh Bachchan does not buy awards.
Manoj Desai further told how Amitabh revealed the name of the winner of the Best Actor award even before it was announced. He said, ‘Then Amitabh Bachchan also said that I know who is going to get this award. This will go to Anil Kapoor. Because Anil has already arranged for a big party on the terrace of his house. Anil Kapoor received the Best Actor award that year. I think he got it for the film Mr. India. Anil Kapoor had promised to bear all the expenses of the Filmfare party, so he got that award.
What is the truth about Anil Kapoor buying awards?
Let us tell you that Anil Kapoor’s film ‘Mr. India’ was released in the year 1987, which was a superhit. But he did not receive any award for that film. In fact, Anil Kapoor had received the Best Actor Award in 1989 for his 1988 film ‘Tezaab’. That year, Amitabh Bachchan was nominated opposite him for Best Actor for the film ‘Shahenshah’. In such a situation, Manoj Desai’s claim of winning the award for ‘Mr. India’ has reportedly been proved false.
