Whereas, Virat and Buttler also shared information about their experiences, special moments and Dhoni’s lasting impact on the game and their lives. Virat Kohli talked about his experience with MS Dhoni during the 2019 ODI World Cup during the show. Kohli had said, ‘His biggest skill is to maintain patience in the most difficult moments. That is why he is very good, because he is able to take good decisions under pressure. He always remains calm and collected and allows himself to reach a mental state where he can take the most important decisions. There is a lot to learn from him. When I came to the Indian team, he was my captain and he will always be my captain.
Rohit Sharma had talked about the presence of MSD in the dressing room during the T20 World Cup 2021. He said, ‘I made my World Cup debut under his leadership in 2007. Since then our journey has been very long and we have played a lot of cricket together. His ability to connect with youngsters and motivate them, be it a game situation or a player’s performance, is something truly special. He always tries to create a calm environment around the players, so that they do not feel unsafe. I believe that this is a very important quality.
Former England captain Jos Buttler had praised Dhoni’s role during the 2019 World Cup. He said, ‘As a wicketkeeper, he has been a role model for me… Mr. Cool. I’ve always liked his personality on the field. He looks very calm and in control when he bats. His hands move at lightning speed behind the stumps and he likes to take the game deep. His unique style makes him a great ambassador of the game. I am a big fan of MS Dhoni.
