Krishnamachari Srikkanth’s big appeal to BCCI regarding Vaibhav Suryavanshi, said – talent should not be seen, age should be seen.
Tezzbuzz Desk- Former Indian captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth has appealed to the BCCI to take a bold decision regarding young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Srikkanth believes that priority should be given not to Vaibhav’s age, but his talent, consistency and ability to perform under pressure. Giving the example of Sachin Tendulkar, he said that just as Sachin got the opportunity at a young age, similarly Vaibhav should also be included in the setup of the senior team soon.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi recently caught the attention of the cricket world when he became the youngest batsman to score a century in List A cricket. In a Vijay Hazare Trophy match, he played an explosive inning of 190 runs in just 84 balls. During this, Vaibhav hit 15 sixes and completed his century in just 36 balls. His innings left the bowlers completely helpless and his claim before the selectors became stronger.
In the conversation, Srikanth appealed to the selectors not to make Vaibhav wait any longer. “Vaibhav is scoring centuries everywhere, be it IPL, Under-19 or any other level. You can say it is against Arunachal Pradesh, but that is a different thing,” he said.
Srikkanth further said, “This boy is tearing everyone apart in all kinds of matches. I had also said last year that he should be fast-tracked for the T20 World Cup. Maybe it is too late for him now, but still he should be brought into the team early. This boy has tremendous potential and should be included in the Indian team soon.”
