Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has clearly said that now the country should not depend on petrol and diesel for long. He said in a warning tone that if alternative fuels are not adopted, the government will have to take strict measures.

Speaking during an event, Gadkari said that change has now become necessary to save the environment and reduce pollution. He also made it clear that the government is not going to back down in this direction.

“Stop petrol and diesel, otherwise the rules will become more strict”

Gadkari said, “I am the transport minister. I have applied the baton. Stop diesel and petrol, otherwise strict emission norms like Euro-6 will be implemented.”

He said that if automobile companies and industries continue to depend on petrol and diesel, it will be difficult to reduce pollution. In such a situation, the government will be forced to bring strict laws.

Tractors running on 100 percent ethanol and CNG ready

Gadkari also said that now the change is visible on the ground. He said that many tractor companies of the country have worked on flex engine technology.

According to him, now such tractors have been ready which can run on 100 percent ethanol. Can also work on CNG. The need for petrol and diesel is greatly reduced. He called it a big achievement and said that this will reduce the expenses of the farmers and will also benefit the environment.

Government will provide help to those adopting alternative fuels

Nitin Gadkari also made it clear that the government is not only giving advice but is also providing financial help. He told that in the coming time, if any person chooses biofuel or alternative fuel option for construction machinery or heavy vehicle, and gets finance for it, then the government will provide subsidy of up to 5 percent. Its objective is that people should leave petrol and diesel and move towards new and clean fuel.

Hydrogen powered trucks also launched

Gadkari also gave information about future technology. He told that recently three new trucks have been launched, which are based on hydrogen technology.

Of these, there are two trucks in which hydrogen is being used along with diesel or petrol engines. A truck runs entirely on hydrogen fuel cell. He said that work on such technology is being done rapidly.

New experiments are also taking place in farming and construction.
