Congress workers protest outside the Congress headquarters during the CWC meeting, demanding a Dalit chief minister in Karnataka.

New Delhi. A working committee meeting is going on inside the Congress headquarters in Delhi and workers from Karnataka are protesting outside. Outside the headquarters of All India Congress Committee, some people from Karnataka raised slogans and demanded to make a Dalit Chief Minister in the state. The protesters say that the current Home Minister of Karnataka, G. Parameshwara Reddy should be made the next Chief Minister of the state. Many senior leaders including National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi are present in the meeting of Congress Working Committee. The protesters took this route to convey their views to the party high command.

The protesters tried to attract the attention of the high command by waving posters. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has also arrived to attend the working committee meeting. There is already a ruckus in the Karnataka government regarding change of leadership and now after the demonstration by Reddy supporters, the tussle over the CM’s chair may increase further. Let us tell you that till now there were two camps in the Congress government in Karnataka and now this third camp has emerged. There has been a tussle between CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar regarding the post of Chief Minister for a long time.

Even though on the instructions of the party high command, the CM and the Deputy CM are giving the message after having breakfast at each other’s house that everything is fine in the government and there is no rift between them, but in between, both the leaders and their supporters keep fueling this controversy with their statements. Actually, Shivakumar’s supporters say that Siddaramaiah has completed 2.5 years as CM, now Shivkumar should be made the CM for the next 2.5 years. Whereas Siddaramaiah has made it clear that he will complete the tenure of five years. Now this dispute may deepen further with the demand to make the Home Minister the Chief Minister.
