Rule No. 1: Aadhaar-PAN linking is now a compulsion, not a choice! (the biggest rule)

This is the most dangerous and most important change in this list.

• What is the rule: Now it has been made mandatory to link your PAN card with Aadhaar in every case.
• What will happen if not done: Your PAN card will become ‘inoperative’ (useless). Due to this, you will neither be able to make big transactions from the bank, nor will you be able to file ITR and all your investments may also get stuck.

Rule No. 2: One man, one pan… If there is another, surrender immediately!
Now gone are those days when people used to roam around with multiple PAN cards made.

• What is the rule: Having more than one PAN card in the name of a person will now be considered illegal.
• What if you also have two? If you have two PAN cards, even by mistake, surrender one immediately (online or offline) without any delay. If caught, a heavy fine can be imposed.

Rule number 3: Now your PAN card will work in your mobile, not in your pocket!
Now you do not need to carry a plastic PAN card everywhere.

• What is the rule: The government is now promoting e-PAN card (Digital PAN card). Now if you get a new PAN, you will also get a digital copy, which you can save in your phone and use it anywhere. It is as valid as the physical card.

Rule number 4: Work will not be done without mobile and email!
Now it is very important to have your current mobile number and email ID linked with your PAN card.

• What is the rule: On doing any work related to PAN, whether making a new one or making any change, OTP will come on your mobile.
• Why is it important: This will ensure that it is you who is using the PAN card and not someone else. This makes your identity even more secure.
