Signs of reconciliation in Pawar family before Pune civic elections, NCP and NCP-SP alliance almost certain

Tezzbuzz Desk- Political turmoil has intensified before the municipal elections in Maharashtra. The alliance between Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s NCP and Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP) for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections is considered almost certain. Ajit Pawar himself has indicated that a formal announcement on this will be made soon. At the same time, possibilities of coming together of both the parties are being explored in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

In this connection, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar reached Pimpri Chinchwad on Friday, where he met NCP-SP leader Azam Pansare. After this meeting, Azam Pansare said while talking to the media that Ajit Pawar came to meet him after a long time and many important issues were discussed between the two. He said that both sides desire an alliance and Ajit Pawar has assured that a final decision on this will be taken soon.

Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporations have been strongholds of the united NCP for a long time. After BMC, both these municipal corporations are counted among the most prosperous bodies of Maharashtra. However, in recent years the BJP has strengthened its hold in these areas. In such a situation, the Pawar family does not want the BJP to break into their traditional fort. This is the reason why a strategy is being made to put aside the differences and come together with Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar.

NCP-SP MP and Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule has also given a statement on this entire incident. He said that all possibilities of alliance are being seriously considered and Ajit Pawar has been continuously saying that he has not given up his ideology.

At the same time, the picture looks different regarding Thane Municipal Corporation. NCP says that it can contest the elections alone in Thane, because the constituent parties of Mahayuti have not yet approached for talks.

It is noteworthy that voting is to be held on January 15 for the elections of a total of 29 municipal bodies including BMC in Maharashtra and the nomination process has started. Meanwhile, it is also being claimed in media reports that Congress is exploring possibilities of coordination with Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray in Pune. Recently, Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS had announced an alliance for the BMC elections, to which the Congress had given a cautious reaction.

Overall, new equations seem to be forming in Maharashtra politics before the municipal elections and the unity of the Pawar family can become a big challenge for the BJP.
