Rajesh Khanna was born on 29 December 1942 as Jatin Khanna. He was adopted and had a keen interest in acting since childhood. He participated in many plays during his school days. When he decided to pursue a career in films, his uncle changed his name to Rajesh Khanna.
Rajesh Khanna initially got recognition from films like ‘Baharon Ke Sapne’, ‘Aurat’, ‘Doli’ and ‘Ittefaq’. But the film ‘Aradhana’ with Sharmila Tagore in 1969 made him a superstar overnight. His popularity reached its peak during that period.
